Packing for a Week Away Using Just Hand Luggage

Travel can be expensive, especially when it comes to getting there. Over the past couple of years, airfares have started to rise again. In many cases, the fact that airlines now charge so much for services like luggage is the main reason for this.

Fortunately, as you will see, it is not actually that difficult to fit everything you need for a week long holiday into hand luggage. All you need to do is to follow the tips and suggestions I make below.

Choose lightweight tops that work for most occasions

Usually, you can get away with only packing 3 or 4 tops. Be sure to pack the type that can easily be rinsed out and dried without needing ironing. The more versatile they are, the better, because you will be able to wear them for more than one type of activity.

A great example of the kind of tops I am talking about are polo shirts, which you can easily buy from places like www.jacamo.co.uk. They are casual enough for the beach yet smart enough for a meal out.

Bottoms

For a week´s vacation, you can get away with wearing jeans or trousers for the journey and packing a couple of pairs or shorts or skirts. If you think the weather may not be great swap one of these for a set of leggings, jogging bottoms or lightweight trousers.

Underwear

Despite space being tight, you should still to be able to fit 7 pairs of underwear and lightweight socks into your case. You can easily squeeze these items into any little nooks and crannies. If you really cannot get them all in, you can always wear two sets for the journey or wash what you need.

A waterproof coat and a warm top

It is important to also be ready for inclement weather. So, wear or pack a jumper or sweatshirt. You also need a lightweight coat with a built in hood. Ideally, you want it to be waterproof and wind resistant. It can also be a good idea to wear a wrap as a scarf. The right type can easily double up as something to wear on the beach.

Swimwear

Speaking of which, be sure to pack a swimming costume. You should also wear a hat and sunglasses or pop these into your case along with some sun cream.

Toiletries

Don´t forget the rules about putting liquids in your luggage. You need to understand them and follow them.

Pack items that can easily be mixed and matched

Before you pack, lay everything out on the bed and make sure that you can create enough outfits from what you have chosen. Provided you have got the color and styling co-ordination right you should be able to create around 10 different outfits. That will be more than enough to take you through your week away.
